The Bodhran is a frame drum originating in Ireland early in the 20th century. Frame drums are found in almost all musical cultures but the Bodhran is common in Irish music, Scottish music and the Celtic based music of Canada’s east coast.
We can’t really see the need for a year long study of the Bodhran but it would be a good fit for a ‘Try it Lesson’ for experienced musicians, our spring/summer “Meet the Instrument” sessions or part of a comprehensive percussion course including the Cajon and Djembe.
We have use the Bodhran in celti music but also in other kinds of music. In churches, on recording, etc. it make a nice differnce in the music sound pallette.
